Mac Jones' response to Colts wanting to make Patriots offense one-dimensional was predictable

FOXBOROUGH -- Earlier in the week, Colts linebacker Bobby Okereke told reporters their game plan Saturday night will be to try and make the Patriots one-dimensional, forcing Mac Jones to throw the football.

The Patriots rookie was asked for his thoughts on the comments when he spoke to the media Wednesday, but responded as you'd might expect based on the way he's answered questions so far this season.

“I think they have a great defense and they’ve done a lot of different things each game to stop what their opponent does well," Jones said. "We just have to be prepared and be ready to go regardless of the situation. We just got to control what we can control. That’s just playing well on our side of the ball. We already know that they have a great defense, so we’re going to expect the expected and it’s going to be a good dog fight.”

But, do the comments motivate him at all?

“No," he said. "I mean, everyone has their opinions and my job is to be the best quarterback I can be. My job is to be the best quarterback I can be and I can do a better job of that every day at practice. That’s what I can control and like I said, they have a great defense and there’s great players all around. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.”

The Patriots enter the matchup with the ninth-best rushing attack in the league compared to the 18th-best passing game.
