For the Patriots and quarterback Mac Jones, for the first time this year they had a Sunday off following their Thursday night in Atlanta.

Appearing on Merloni & Fauria Monday, Jones was asked how he spent it.

The rookie said it consisted of watching football with his family as a fan, and then studying what he needs to for the upcoming game with the Titans.

“A little bit of both, just alternating,” he said. “The NFL Red Zone thing is pretty cool, so watching that was good. And then, just getting on my iPad.”

One of the games Jones was able to see was the Panthers-Washington Football Team that included Cam Newton getting the start for Carolina.

“He played great in that game,” Jones said of his former teammate. “I know he’s enjoying it, so he’s out there having fun being himself. I don’t get to watch every clip and all that, but when he was in there he looked pretty good. He’s doing a great job. I know that he’s having fun.”

The Panthers lost 27-21, but Newton had three overall touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the Patriots got quite a bit of help on Sunday and are now alone at the top of the AFC East standings.

They will host the Titans in a crucial AFC matchup on Sunday.
