Marcus Jones’ Superman act just earned him a big-time honor.
The Patriots rookie was named the AFC’s Special Teams Player of the Week, per a release from the team, after his last-second 84-yard touchdown downed the New York Jets last Sunday in jaw-dropping fashion.
The play marked Jones’ first ever NFL touchdown and the league’s first punt-return of the season overall, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. The 2022 third-round pick now has the second-most punt-return yards in football (283) and the second-highest average yards per return (16.65).
Jones also becomes the second Patriot this year to earn Special Teams Player of the Week, joining Nick Folk (Week 8).
