New Patriots outside linebacker Matt Judon joined Good Morning Football Monday morning to discuss a number of different things as it relates to his new team.

Obviously, last year was not the season the Patriots are used to having and vow to turn things around in 2021. It started with massive spending in free agency with Judon being one of the players brought on board.

Judon believes the Patriots defense will be better this coming season and it starts with having confidence and also Bill Belichick leading the way.

“I stay confident just from where I come from and what I have been through and preparation that I know I take every day and every game," he said. "I have no choice but to be confident in myself and I think when you play confident and when you have confidence in yourself it shows on the field and it shows in your play and you can go out there and you can make those plays.

“And then it’s arguably the best coach to ever coach any sport. That’s who we have. With him leading a group of hungry, willing men, it’s nothing but up from last year.”

Then when it comes to Cam Newton, the veteran acknowledged there will be a competition with Mac Jones and he will be up for it.

“I expect him to put his best foot forward," Judon said. "When he comes into meetings, being in the front of the meetings. He will be attentive and then when we get out on the field, he’s the loudest on the field. He’s always having fun with it. I expect him to go out there and treat it as a business and go out there and make plays and lead the quarterbacks, lead the team.

"Whatever happens with the job or anything like that, he should be trying to do his best because he knows who we drafted and he knows how to work. He’s not new to this, not new to the NFL and we all know how it goes. If you’re not playing to a certain standard then it’s the next man up. But, I think he will be playing to that standard, but it’s yet to see. We’re going to see in a couple of weeks.”

And then as it relates to Week 4 and facing Tom Brady, he didn't have much to say since he never played with him.

“I honestly don’t know," Judon said. "Going into that, I am for sure an outsider on that. He’s still got teammates that he won Super Bowls with that he had numerous of parties and numerous events with and did stuff with. I am going to be an outsider with all that. I am just going to be there to win a game. All the gamesmanship and all the back-and-forth, it’s just going to be regular banter to me. To other people that played with him, it might mean something much more.”
