Millions of football fans, both locally and nationally, are beyond excited for the 2021 season, and one game in early October especially. Count one of the newest Patriots as someone who cannot wait for Foxboro’s former hero to make his way home.
In a fun and far ranging forum of questions, answers, insight and opinion, new Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon shed some light on his game and personality in a recent Bleacher Report AMA.
The former Raven said his favorite QB to sack is Ben Roethlisberger because of the rivalry, but as far as the QB he’ll face in early October he has feelings there, too.
“Tom Brady is the toughest [QB to sack] because he intentionally grounds the ball every time. Every time I’m about to get a sack on him, he throws the ball away,” Judon said.
Those comments can be seen as both a sign of respect as well as a bit of trash talk in advance of the most eagerly anticipated regular-season game of the 2021 season. Brady’s famous for a lot of things, among them throwing the ball away early when he feels a play has fallen apart so he can live to see another down.
Judon, who is thrilled to be on the Patriots, said the player he’s most looking forward to playing with is Cam Newton.
And as far as his relationship with his new coach?
“I met with him one time," he said. "My initial thoughts is he a really cool guy, he's down to earth and he knows a lot of football.”
Oh, and his favorite fast food?
“I’m always going to be built by Taco Bell,” Judon said.
Sorry, Dunks.
Just 136 more days until Brady comes home, in another team’s uniform, leading the Super Bowl champion Buccaneers to Gillette Stadium to take on the Patriots. Seems like Judon can’t wait to try and fix some history that night and do what so many have tried yet failed to do, get his hands on The GOAT.
