It seems like it is a matter of when, not if, Jerod Mayo is a head coach in the NFL.

And appearing on Merloni & Fauria Wednesday, it seems he would prefer it to be in New England. But with that being said, it doesn't seem like Bill Belichick is slowing down.

“There’s no secret I want to be a head coach in this league. And there’s no secret I love New England," Mayo said. "I love the New England states. I love this area. My family loves this area and they have welcomed us with open arms since 2008 when I first got here. That would be the best-case scenario.

“With that being said, I want to be a head coach in this league and I’ll tell you this, this is coming from my mouth, Bill is still as sharp as ever. This guy is still going. You can say he’s getting older or whatever, this guy, he’s still there. He still works harder than a lot of other people. We’ll see what happens. That would be the best-case scenario that I could stay around here, but I am just not sure.”
