(670 The Score) Former Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has signed a one-year deal with the Bills in free agency, Buffalo announced Thursday afternoon.
The No. 2 overall pick in 2017, Trubisky was an unrestricted free agent after the Bears declined his fifth-year option. Chicago instead signed veteran quarterback Andy Dalton to replace Trubisky, who had been its primary starter since his rookie season.
Trubisky, 26, will be the Bills' backup behind starter Josh Allen. Trubisky joins a franchise in Buffalo that reached the AFC championship game this past season.
Trubisky played in 51 games across four seasons for the Bears, completing 64% of his passes for 10,609 yards, 64 touchdowns and 37 interceptions. He started nine games last season while splitting action with veteran quarterback Nick Foles, whom he initially beat out in a competition last August.
Trubisky's time in Chicago was set against the backdrop of draft classmates Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson rising to stardom after the Bears passed on them in favor of Trubisky.
Now, Trubisky gets a fresh start in Buffalo while Chicago has moved on to another quarterback in Dalton.
