The Patriots officially named their team captains Thursday.
They are: Cam Newton, James White, David Andrews, Devin and Jason McCourty, Lawrence Guy, and Ja'Whaun Bentley and Matthew Slater.
No real surprises here, although Bentley is in just his third season and played sparingly last season after missing almost his entire rookie season.
Guy and Jason McCourty are first-time captains, but their leadership has been well-documented.
The Patriots open the season Sept. 13 against Miami.
