The Patriots are certainly in the market for a quarterback in the NFL Draft as the only players at the position on the roster now are Cam Newton, Jarrett Stidham and Jake Dolegala.
The expectation is the first three players in the draft will be quarterbacks, so if the Patriots want to land one of the top five they will need to trade up from No. 15 overall.
One of the teams to keep an eye on is the Falcons at No. 4 overall.
According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Atlanta has had “exploratory talks” when it comes to potentially trading that pick as the draft nears. It obviously would cost a great deal for the Patriots, but if they want to ensure they land one of the top five QBs in the draft, it might be their only option.
Trevor Lawrence is expected to go No. 1 overall followed by Zach Wilson at No. 2. Then it is anyone's guess the order for Mac Jones, Justin Fields and Trey Lance, but the expectation is none of them will make it out of the top 10.
