Cam Newton wasn't able to finish Friday's OTA session because of a hand injury, but it apparently isn't as bad as it could have been.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, Newton suffered a slight bone bruise after hitting his throwing hand on a helmet.

The report says it's not serious, but since it's still the spring he may not return to the field until training camp.

About an hour into Friday's OTA Newton went over to head trainer Jim Whalen and other members of the medical staff and had his throwing hand examined.

The quarterback remained on the field, but did not participate in anything else the remainder of the session.

If Newton is sidelined the rest of the spring, it means more reps for Jarrett Stidham, Mac Jones and Brian Hoyer.
