Jerod Mayo reportedly a name to watch for Broncos' head-coaching job

On Sunday, the Broncos parted ways with head coach Vic Fangio, which means there are now officially three open jobs in the NFL.

Jerod Mayo has already been mentioned with the Bears if Matt Nagy is let go, and now his name is being brought up to replace Fangio.

According to NFL Media's Tom Pelissero, Mayo is a name to watch for the job. Other coaches mentioned are Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, and Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

Mayo, 35, became a coach in 2019 and after just two seasons received his first head-coaching interview last offseason when he met with the Eagles.

Although Mayo is a terrific leader, it would be a big jump going from inside linebackers coach to NFL head coach, especially when he's never even called plays.
