Patriots tight end Hunter Henry left Sunday's practice with an apparent shoulder injury.
And after reportedly having a MRI Monday, the update is good, but not great.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Henry is expected to miss “a couple of weeks," but it is “not serious”. Obviously, it's good news it's not serious, but not good news that he's missing time.
It does seem like, as of now, he won't need to miss any regular-season time.
Bill Belichick was asked about Henry on a video conference Tuesday morning and he noted the tight end will still be able to do some things when it comes to getting ready for the season.
"Hunter has participated in everything he's been able to do since he's been here," he said. "He's gained a lot of experience in the time he's been here. I would say he's day-to-day. And again, as players improve, -- and this goes for everybody, not just specifically him -- but as players improve and they can do more, then we can gradually work them into things. It's a little different than the regular season where guys go on different lists -- the return process is a little bit different than what it is in training camp because either you're getting a guy ready to play, or you're not. And if you're not, then it's how much time do you want to spend with him when somebody else can actually play in a game.
"So, he's day-to-day. He'll come back as he can come back, as like any other player in that same category. Hunter is a smart guy. He has a lot of experience. He's been here and has done everything we've done as a team. When we get him back, we'll get him back there in the pace and the schedule that fits his situation. He'll continue to make progress. There's still a lot of things he can do. There may be some things that are a limitation, like other players have. But again, we try and focus on what those players can do, not what they can't do. They will continue to move ahead in the areas that they are able to."
New England will host the Washington Football Team in the first preseason game Thursday night.
