Nick Caserio, Texans reportedly have deal in place for him to become general manager

Third time's a charm.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the Texans and Nick Caserio, the Patriots' director of player personnel, have a deal in place for him to become their next general manager.

Caserio interviewed on Tuesday, as well as with the Panthers. Houston requested Caserio twice before, including in 2019 when tampering charges were filed by the Patriots.

He just completed his 20th year with the Patriots, the last 13 being the director of player personnel.

The connection with Houston is Jack Easterby, formerly of the Patriots, and apparently he worked his magic to get Caserio the job.

According to NFL Media's Mike Garafolo, five other candidates were on the final candidate list search firm Korn Ferry presented to the team, so it seems Easterby was able to work his magic.

Houston will now turn its attention to hiring a head coach.
