The Patriots continue to be active and aggressive at the start of free agency.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Patriots have agreed to a deal with former Dolphins defensive tackle Davon Godchaux. It is a two-year deal worth up to $16 million and $9 million is guaranteed.
Godchaux played in just five games last season, as he was placed on injured reserve with a biceps injury. The LSU product was a fifth-round pick by Miami in the 2017 draft.
His best season came in 2019 when he recorded 75 tackles and two sacks. He is listed at 310 pounds, which is smaller than previous Patriots nose tackles, but regardless it was one of their biggest needs.
Defensive line was a huge need for the team and it's likely more players will be added. The biggest question is now will Lawrence Guy return? Regardless, do not expect the Patriots to be satisfied with just Godchaux at the position.
