Tuesday is the deadline for NFL rosters to get to 53 players and the Patriots have started the process by making a few cuts on Monday.
-- According to multiple reports, defensive tackle Bill Murray has been released. The undrafted rookie from a year ago had a strong summer and could be a candidate to return to the practice squad if he clears waivers.
-- ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the team has released safety Adrian Colbert. Safety is one of the more competitive spots on the roster, so it was an uphill battle for the start for the veteran.
-- According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, seventh-round wide receiver Tre Nixon has been waived. He was "The Ernie Adams" pick.
