Patriots kicker Nick Folk (left knee, limited) has been on the Patriots injury report each of the last two days and it seems like the team is preparing for the event he cannot go Sunday -- just in case.
According to the NFL transaction wire, the Patriots worked out two kickers Thursday -- Brett Maher and Riley Patterson, as well as long snappers Turner Bernard and Ryan Langan.
Maher, 31, has spent time with seven different NFL teams, plus four more in the Canadian Football League. He hasn't kicked in the league since 2019. Meanwhile, Patterson graduated from Memphis last year and went undrafted.
The Patriots have rookie Quinn Nordin on IR, but he cannot come off the list in time for the game, so if Folk cannot kick then it would likely be one of these two for Sunday night against Tampa Bay.
As of now it seems like it's just a precaution, but the severity of Folk's injury is unknown. More will be known Friday with the final injury report of the week.
