Patriots reportedly plan to host defensive back for tryout

The Patriots are always doing their homework in case a need arises.

According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, the Patriots have defensive back J.T. Hassell in for COVID testing and then an eventual tryout.

The 25-year-old out of Florida Tech played in six games for Cleveland last season after he was signed as an undrafted free agent. He was released by the Browns as part of roster cut downs on Sept 3.

Hassell could be a potential practice squad candidate, or just doing due diligence for a potential need down the road.
