The news is not good for third-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham.
According to Jeff Howe of The Athletic, Stidham has been experiencing right shoulder and back pain when throwing the football, which is the reason for him starting the summer on PUP.
The report adds surgery has been noted as a possibility and a timetable on his return is unclear.
With that being said, it does not appear like it will be any time soon, as the team claimed quarterback Jake Dolegala off waivers from the Packers on Wednesday. He's the fifth quarterback on the roster now.
This is Stidham's third year in the league and he has yet to start a game. He was selected by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2019 draft.
