Patriots reportedly tried to add WR Dante Pettis, but he is now a Giant

The Patriots added a veteran wide receiver to their practice squad Wednesday in Donte Moncrief, but they apparently tried to add another.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, the Patriots claimed 49ers wide receiver Dante Pettis on waivers, but the Giants also claimed him and since they have a worse record and have a higher priority, Pettis goes to New York.

Pettis, 25, was drafted in the second round, but after a solid rookie season, hasn't done much in San Fransisco since. He hauled in 27 catches for 467 yards -- an average of 17 yards per catch -- and five touchdowns in his rookie season, but saw his receptions fall to just 11 in 2019.

He has zero catches in five games this season.

With the Patriots' issues at the receiver position, this was certainly worth a shot.
