The Patriots are back to having four quarterbacks in their QB room.
According to Jim McBride of The Boston Globe, New England plans on re-signing veteran Brian Hoyer.
This will be the 35-year-old's fourth stint with the team. He wasn't immediately brought back as a free agent this offseason and visited the Jets, but he will return to the team that he's played for from 2009-11, 2017-18 and in 2020.
Hoyer will be in the same room as Cam Newton, Jarrett Stidham and Mac Jones.
It's hard to say exactly why Hoyer is being brought back, but he potentially could serve as a good mentor for Jones, who will be learning the system for the first time.
