Tom Brady said during Super Bowl week he could see himself playing beyond 45 years of age. As of now his contract runs through the 2021 season where he will be 44 years old, but that could soon change.
According to Josina Anderson, the Buccaneers and Brady are "getting closer" to reworking his contract and The Athletic's Jeff Howe adds the two sides have discussed it, but it's "routine discussion for this time of year."
The quarterback signed a two-year deal as a free agent last March.
An extension would make sense for Tampa Bay as well as it would lower Brady's $28.4 million cap hit this season, which would free up some money to retain some of its own free agents and add others.
Brady won a Super Bowl this past season, his first with the Buccaneers.
