Adam Schefter: Tom Brady might want Tampa to trade for Odell Beckham Jr., but it will be tough

Dating back to his last few years in New England, Tom Brady clearly liked Odell Beckham Jr.

There were several reports that he wanted to play with him and after the 2019 meeting at Gillette Stadium, the two met in the tunnel and had a long conversation along with Brady's son.

“My oldest son [Jack] lives in New York and he’s a big fan of [Beckham Jr.],” Brady said on WEEI at the time. “All the kids at school in New York after he made that catch were like, ‘OBJ! OBJ! OBJ!’ So then my son Benny from his older brother got to know who he was. It was pretty nice.”

Now, it seems like Brady would be in favor of Beckham Jr. joining him in Tampa Bay.

"While Tampa Bay and Tom Brady might want Odell Beckham Jr. there, can they fit in his contract? Can they make that work? I guess you could always try to make due with whatever you want, but I think it's challenging to fit a wide receiver in at that number on top of everything else they're trying to get done there," ESPN's Adam Schefter said Monday on Get Up.

Beckham Jr.'s cap hit for 2021 is just under $16 million and he's signed for three more seasons. That may be difficult for Tampa Bay to take on, especially with wide out Chris Godwin being a free agent and potentially getting hit with the franchise tag. The Buccaneers do not have much cap space to work with this offseason -- just under $20 million.

Obviously, Brady would like to play with Beckham Jr., but based on Tampa Bay's financial situation it seems like it's just a wish at this point.
