Patriots reportedly lose veteran linebacker, bring back familiar face to replace him

The Patriots have already lost a player for the season.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, veteran linebacker Raekwon McMillan suffered a torn ACL in practice a few days ago and is out for the season. The former Dolphins linebacker was having a strong start to training camp.

The team has wasted no time replacing him, as according to NFL Media's Tom Pelissero, it is bringing back linebacker Cassh Maluia. He was selected by the Patriots in the sixth round last year and played in nine games.

He was released in March when the Patriots signed McMillian.

Maluia will give the team more depth at linebacker and likely help out on special teams.
