Patriots fans who like throwback uniforms will like this reported rule change

Patriots fans who liked the "Pat Patriot" helmets should listen up.

According to multiple reports, the NFL sent a memo out to teams Thursday explaining that beginning in 2022 teams can wear alternate-color helmets, which give teams a chance to use two different helmets in the course of a season.

The second one can be paired with alternate jerseys, such as a throwback or color rush uniforms. These helmets will have to be worn during practice the week before worn in a game.

Relating to the Patriots, it means they can wear their "Pat Patriot" white helmets with red jerseys.

“We recognize that fans also have an affinity for the red ‘throwback’ uniform and we hope to incorporate that into our uniform rotation in the future," the team said in a statement last season.

While it won't happen this year, it will be worth the wait come 2022.
