Listen: Devin McCourty on GHS explains what Patriots WRs should expect from Stephon Gilmore

The Patriots will be going up against Stephon Gilmore and the Panthers Sunday in Carolina.

It will be Gilmore's second game with his new team and after spending the last four years with the Patriots, they know a lot of what he's about and how he plays.

Appearing on the Greg Hill Show Friday, Devin McCourty explained what the Patriots wide receivers should expect.

“I haven’t told them much," he said. "I think a lot of what Steph does is you can see -- 1-on-1 backside in our defense was where he kind of lived in our defense. But, it’s tough to say going forward. You watch, from what I saw against Atlanta, he was primarily on [Kyle] Pitts, on their tight end in a third-down passing role. Just telling those guys how competitive he is and how much he’s going to know what you’ve done on film. Like whatever routes, how you run your routes, whatever that looks like, he’s studied it. He knows it already.

"So, obviously you can’t go out there and just start drawing things up in the dirt, but I think the biggest thing going against him is you have to be precise. You’ve got to run your best routes. If you’re lazy he’s going to take advantage and you’re going to have a long day. I think a lot of those guys know that. Our coaching staff knows that. What we’re going to get from Gilly is not going to be anything new.”
