ken & curtis: is there any change for belichick to keep his job next season?
The Patriots have made, yet another, move at the quarterback position.
Ahead of their game on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, New England elevated practice squad QB/WR Malik Cunningham to their game day roster.
Cunningham signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent following the NFL Draft, but was waived during final roster cuts in late August. After clearing waivers and signing to the practice squad, he was signed to the 53-man roster on October 14 prior to their Week 6 game versus the Raiders. Cunningham was waived 10 days later and, once again, signed back to the practice squad.
The Patriots are set to start Bailey Zappe at quarterback this Sunday against the Chargers, with Mac Jones unlikely to have a role. According to The Athletic’s Jeff Howe, Cunningham is expected to have a package of plays for him in the offense as well.
Sunday's contest kicks off at 1 p.m. from Gillette Stadium.
