Mac Jones wasn't always the star quarterback at Alabama.
In his first few years at the school, he was behind Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa on the depth chart and to stay sharp he ran the scout team.
In a story written by Sports Illustrated's Christopher Walsh, in one practice Jones kept going deep over and over again to wide receiver Tyrell Shavers as the scout team quarterback.
Nick Saban didn't like that, as he wanted his defense to work on other things.
“Well, tell your defense to stop it," Jones apparently told Saban, according to safety Jared Mayden.
This was a young quarterback who hadn't accomplished anything at Alabama saying that to Saban, the greatest coach in college football.
While he likely won't be saying the same thing to Bill Belichick now that he's a member of the Patriots, that attitude is something Belichick would like to see Jones take with him to the NFL.
