Patriots going abroad again in 2024 with London game

It looks as though the New England Patriots will be traveling for some international footy once again…this time returning to jolly olde England to play his majesty’s royal Jaguars of Jacksonville, no less.

On NFL Schedule Release Day 2024 (another of the many special days the NFL has branded on their ever-expanding calendar), the first game confirmed for the Patriots’ 2024 schedule is a Week 7 matchup in London, England against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The game is set to be played at Wembley Stadium, which has a massive capacity of 90,000. Ticketing information for the matchup will be available soon. Interest should be pretty high stateside as well as overseas as the Patriots have a significant international fanbase, featuring one of their biggest fan clubs in the UK.

The last time the Patriots traveled to London was a Week 8 matchup in 2012 against the then-St. Louis Rams, a game the Pats dominated 38-7, featuring two TD receptions by Rob Gronkowski, and one very memorable London-inspired celebration.

The last time the Patriots played an international game, it was Week 10 of the 2023 season against the Indianapolis Colts in Hamburg, Germany, and, well, no need to revisit that debacle again.

Expected to be the biggest talking point headed into this matchup will be whether Pats first-round QB Drake Maye will be the starter by then, or will it be recently signed veteran Jacoby Brissett. Also, the health and play of Jags franchise QB Trevor Lawrence will bear monitoring as well, seeing as his backup now is none other than former Patriots QB Mac Jones. Layers and layers of intrigue already set up for a Week 7 matchup.
