The Patriots fell to the Dolphins 17-16 in Sunday's Week 1 matchup and the bad news may be more than just in the loss column.

Starting right tackle Trent Brown suffered a calf injury on the opening drive and did not return. It's worth noting Brown also dealt with a calf injury last year with the Raiders.

Second-year player Justin Herron filled in for Brown and wasn't all that great. Late in the fourth quarter, newcomer Yasir Durant came in for Herron and it is unclear if that was injury or performance-related.

Bill Belichick did not have an update on Brown Monday morning.

“Usually it takes 24 hours or so to assess everything. And if there’s things to be done - X-rays, MRIs — those usually happen late last night or in the morning so we’ll see," he said on The Greg Hill Show.

If Brown were to need to miss extended time, it's worth wondering if Michael Onwenu would slide outside from guard and Ted Karras would replace him inside.

In addition, Dont'a Hightower got banged up late in the game and did not return. It was too late in the contest for any injury designation.

The Patriots will take on the Jets next Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
