The Patriots are always looking to improve their depth.
According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, the team hosted five players for workouts on Thursday with a few of them being quite interesting.
The five were tight end Dylan Cozens, linebacker John Lako, defensive back Dominique Martin, linebacker Chris Orr and quarterback Jordan Ta'amu.
Ta'amu graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2019 and signed with the Texans as an undrafted rookie. Last year he bounced around quite a bit, spending time on the Chiefs (twice) and Lions practice squads. This spring he was with Washington. He's also played five games in the XFL.
Cozens is the most interesting as he quit professional baseball this summer to try and make it in football. The 27-year-old was mostly was a minor leaguer in the Phillies organization, but he did play in 27 major league games (2018 and 2019).
He was a star defensive end in high school and verbally committed to the University of Arizona, but after being selected by the Phillies in the second round of the 2012 draft, he went the professional baseball route.
No signings appear imminent, but these are names to keep an eye on.
