3 matchups to watch in Patriots vs. Eagles
The New England Patriots announced their team captains for the 2023 season Friday morning with a nice contemporary pop cultural flair no less.
Paying homage to the hit Hulu show “Only Murders in the Building”, the Patriots shared their six team captains: Mac Jones, Matthew Slater, David Andrews, Ja’Whaun Bentley, Deatrich Wise Jr. and Hunter Henry. This marks the first time being a captain for Henry, who’s enjoyed a solid offseason on the field and off (his wife gave birth to their second child, daughter Rivi Grace, just over a week ago). Henry takes the spot of Devin McCourty, who retired after 13 seasons with the Patriots and now works for NBC’s Sunday Night Football.
The other five captains are repeat selections, this being the second year for Jones, Wise and Bentley. Andrews has been a captain for seven seasons in a row, while Slater has held the honor for an impressive 13 consecutive seasons.
A solid group of men and football players to lead a team with a tough season ahead, beginning Sunday with the kickoff game at home against the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles. Now let’s hope there are “Only Victories in the Building” this season.
