Bill Belichick said (what felt like 10 times) on Wednesday morning that his Patriots team is "getting ready for Washington," following their 31-17 loss to the Dolphins this past weekend.
It felt, at least a little bit, like a flashback to the infamous 'We're onto Cincinnati' press conference he held in 2014 following his team's 41-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
That team ended up winning seven in a row and went on to win Super Bowl XLIX. This team, unfortunately, at 2-6 through eight weeks, doesn't have that same firepower and is looking more likely to earn the No. 1 overall pick rather than the franchise's No. 7 Lombardi Trophy.
Regardless, they're onto Washington. Here's what stood out at Patriots practice on Wednesday:
Attendance:
Absent:
WR DeVante Parker
OT Calvin Anderson
OT Trent Brown
TE Pharaoh Brown
IR:
CB Marcus Jones
DL Daniel Ekuale
CB Christian Gonzalez
LB Matthew Judon
OT Riley Reiff
WR Kendrick Bourne
Other Notes:
- After tearing his ACL in Sunday's loss to the Dolphins, WR Kendrick Bourne was officially placed on injured reserve on Tuesday. He's out for the season.
- Tackle Trent Brown, who could reportedly barely walk following Sunday's game, was not at practice. DeVante Parker, Calvin Anderson, and Pharaoh Brown were also not spotted.
- Ja'Whaun Bentley was at practice after leaving Sunday's game with a hamstring injury. He didn't have pads or a helmet on and looked to be limited in the portion we saw.
