6 rings: Breaking down the Patriots’ initial 53-man roster

The Patriots’ 53-man roster is complete. They kept just one quarterback, two running backs, and two tight ends while also rostering 11(!!) offensive lineman.

The new squad, along with their practice squad, hit the fields outside of Gillette Stadium on Wednesday. While we are now only allotted a 10-minute snapshot, here’s a look at what stood out:

Attendance:

Absent: WR DeVante Parker, WR Tyquan Thornton, OT Riley Reiff

PUP: Cody Davis, Trey Flowers

Other Notes:

- Mac Jones was not the lone quarterback at Wednesday’s practice following the waives of Bailey Zappe and Mailk Cunningham, as each was signed to New England's practice squad and present at Wednesday's session.

- WR DeVante Parker was a new absence on Wednesday, something to monitor.

- The following players were present at Patriots practice despite not being on the 53-man roster (presumed practice squad additions):

QB Bailey Zappe
QB/WR Mailk Cunningham
RB Ty Montgomery
RB Kevin Harris
WR Thyrick Pitts
TE Matt Sokol
TE Pharoah Brown
OL Andrew Steuber
OL Kody Russey
LB Calvin Munson
LB Joe Giles-Harris
S Joshuah Bledsoe
P Corliss Waitman

- Despite reportedly being signed to New England's practice squad, DL Jeremiah Pharms Jr. was not at practice.

- Tight end Pharoah Brown, who ESPN's Mike Reiss reported that the Patriots were considering signing, was at practice.

- OL Bill Murray did not re-sign with the Patriots, instead signing with the Chicago Bears practice squad.
