6 rings and football things: behind enemy lines with matt bove
Despite the Patriots' lengthy, 20-man injury report that resembles a CVS receipt over the course of the past week, head coach Bill Belichick seemingly downplayed their ailments ahead of this weekend:
"The injury report is what it is," he explained on Friday. "We're required to list certain guys in certain areas based on what they do."
If that is truly the case, then perhaps all of the absences and "LIMITED" tags are all for nothing. We'll see what happens come Sunday. Here’s what stood out on Friday:
Attendance:
Absent:
LB Josh Uche
T Riley Reiff
DE Keion White
PUP:
S Cody Davis
DE Trey Flowers
IR:
CB Jack Jones
CB Marcus Jones
DL Daniel Ekuale
CB Christian Gonzalez
LB Matthew Judon
OT Tyrone Wheatley Jr.
Other Notes:
- DB Ameer Speed was released by the team on Thursday afternoon, freeing up a spot on the Patriots' 53-man roster. With Cody Davis, Trey Flowers, and Jack Jones all in the midst of their 21-day return from IR/PUP, it could mean any of their activations are imminent.
- Hunter Henry was at practice again on Friday after being present, and then not practicing on Thursday. It’s worth paying attention to Friday afternoons injury report to help determine if he’ll play on Sunday.
- LB Josh Uche (knee/foot) was not at practice on Friday, putting his status for Sunday in doubt.
