Training camp is just a few short weeks away and to get ready for it, we will be unveiling a 21 questions about the Patriots series relating to the upcoming season. Be sure to check back almost every day to see a new question.
Which player is being most overlooked in New England heading into 2021?
With all the additions the Patriots made this offseason, it’s easy for a few players to fit in this category.
All everyone wants to talk about is the quarterback position and then some attention has shifted to wide receiver with N’Keal Harry’s situation. Not many want to bring up the defense and especially not the defensive line.
This position went from a glaring weakness going into the offseason to now being a position of strength going into training camp.
Along with re-signing Lawrence Guy, a few new players were added at this position and gives us the player who is getting most overlooked — Davon Godchaux.
While he only played in five games last year due to a biceps injury with the Dolphins, the 26-year-old has shown he can be a beast when he stays healthy. In 2019, he finished with 75 tackles and two sacks, which is very impressive for a nose tackle.
Godchaux has the chance to make a real impact on this Patriots defense, filling a similar role to what Guy has done in recent years. The 31-year-old Guy may take a step back this year in terms of playing time and Godchaux seems like the perfect player to take over some of his snaps.
Guy was one of the most underrated players on the Patriots defense the last few seasons and how Godchaux has the chance to do the same.
Do you agree? Who would you go with?
