Patriots react to 'BS' Jerry Tillery hit on Mac Jones

Sunday's Patriots-Chargers game was definitely a chippy one with a lot of talk after the whistle, including some pushing and shoving.

Things got the most heated in the first half when the Patriots had fourth-and-goal and the Chargers took a late timeout with the play being blown dead almost instantly, but defensive lineman Jerry Tillery played through the whistle and hit Mac Jones.

Tillery was not flagged for unnecessary roughness and the play angered Patriots center David Andrews.

“I think 21 other guys heard the whistle,” he said to reporters after the game. “So, I didn’t take too kindly to that. I thought that was kind of a BS play. But it is what it is.

“Mac’s a tough kid and shows a lot of poise each and every week to stand in there.”

Jones himself didn't have much of a reaction, but appreciated the linemen having his back as they took issue with it on the field.

“It is what it is,” Jones told reporters. “I think there’s some stuff here and there. But I do appreciate my offensive line and my team for having my back. But I think it was just one of those things, I’m not really sure what happened.

“But we can’t just let that affect the next play. With me, I didn’t feel, like, tension, or anything like that. I just kept playing and I think everyone on our team did. We played hard, and we played for 60 minutes and that’s all that matters.”

In the end, the Patriots came out on top with a much-needed 27-24 win on the road.
