EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — While Mac Jones is most known for completing passes, the play getting talked about the most from Sunday’s win against the Jets was when he helped push Damien Harris into the end zone following a 26-yard run.
Early in the third quarter, Harris broke more than five tackles and carried several Jets players on his back from the 5-yard line towards the end zone. Many members of the Patriots offense ran down field and helped push the pile towards the goal-line and Harris ultimately into the end zone.
One of those players was the Patriots rookie QB.
Here’s what his teammates had to say about what Jones did, and check out video of it at the end of the post.
Harris: “I appreciate it, but I hope he never does it again. We need him.”
James White: We’d preferably not have him down there when Damien is in the pile, but he’s excited to be out there and do whatever he can to help the team.”
Jones: “My job is to make sure nothing bad happens and try to be by the ball. Maybe I should’ve stayed back.”
Devin McCourty: “He’s a tough guy. I guess Roll Tide, huh?”
