After losing out on free agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, the Patriots may be in on acquiring another pass catcher.

According to Heavy.com's Matt Lombardo, New England is one of several teams interested in wide receiver Denzel Mims. The Boston Globe's Christopher Price confirmed Lombardo's report.

The Jets are set to waive Mims if they are unable to find a trade partner. After staring at Baylor, the 6-foot-3 pass catcher was drafted by New York in the second round of the 2020 draft but has failed to break through in the NFL. It now looks like his time in the Big Apple is up.

Mims requested a trade prior to last season, which New York denied, and ended up tallying just 11 catches for 186 yards on the year.

The Patriots reportedly worked out free agent Leonard Fournette on Wednesday, and according to ESPN's Mike Reiss, the running back is "among those scheduled" to visit New England.

Perhaps Mims will become among those scheduled as well, once he is ultimately granted his released.
