Happy NFL Schedule Release Day! Thursday night we finally learn who plays who, when and where, for the duration of the 18-week 2022 schedule. Over the past 48 hours the leaks and early info drops are coming fast and furious in advance of the full release at 8 pm EST tonight. And the first confirmed game for the Patriots should be a doozy.
According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, the New England Patriots travel to Green Bay Week Four, Sunday, Oct. 2, to take on the Packers at 4:25 pm EST. This has all the makings of a late Sunday ratings bonanza; Belichick back at Lambeau Field, plus Mac Jones’ first game against Aaron Rodgers. Huge.
Belichick is 3-2 as head coach of the Patriots vs. the Packers, 1-1 vs. Aaron Rodgers. The first meeting between coach and QB was a thrilling Packers home victory at Lambeau over Tom Brady and the Pats, 26-21. Their last meeting a home victory for the Patriots on Nov. 4, 2018 in which Bill Belichick was mic’d up. Anticipation for the latest chapter of Belichick vs. one of the all-time great QBs, and Mac Jones getting his first crack to go toe-to-toe with Rodgers, could be tremendous entertainment.
One down, 16 more to come.
