jones & mego: Breaking News: Patriots sign Antonio Gibson!
The Patriots have made their first move of 2024 free agency.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, New England is signing former Commanders running back Antonio Gibson. It's a three-year deal, per multiple reports.
Gibson was drafted by Washington in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Memphis. After starting 10 games as a rookie and 16 in his second season (where he notched 1,037 yards rushing) Gibson began to be phased out of the offense in favor of Brian Robinson. He now heads to Foxborough for a fresh start.
Joining a running back room with Rhamondre Stevenson, Ja'Mycal Hasty, and Kevin Harris, Gibson adds an element in the passing game as well. The 6-foot-2 back has caught 172 passes for 1,282 yards and seven touchdowns over the last four seasons.
