The Patriots' offensive line is going to look very different this season. A day after losing starting left guard Ted Karras in free agency, the Patriots have now traded starting right guard Shaq Mason to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a fifth-round pick, according to multiple reports.

Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald was the first to report the trade. The move reportedly frees up over $6 million in cap space for New England.

The 28-year-old Mason spent his first seven NFL seasons with the Patriots, winning Super Bowls in 2016 and 2018. Five of those seasons saw him protecting Tom Brady, with whom he will now be reunited in Tampa.

The departures of Mason and Karras leave the Patriots with Michael Onwenu, Yasir Durant, Yodny Cajuste and James Ferentz as possible guard options. Starting right tackle Trent Brown is also a free agent and could be another impact departure if he's not re-signed.

Callahan reports that the Patriots have looked into possibly acquiring offensive lineman La'el Collins from the Cowboys.
