Which Pats position group has improved the most?
Whether the Patriots have two good starters at offensive tackle remains to be seen, but they certainly have a lot of bodies at the positions. On Thursday, they removed one from the equation and freed up some money in the process.
According to ESPN's Field Yates, New England has waived Yodny Cajuste. The move clears $2.743 million in cap space.
Cajuste was a third-round pick in 2019 who had been tendered as a restricted free agent earlier this offseason.
He missed the entire 2019 and 2020 seasons due to injury before serving as depth the last two years. He appeared in 17 games total over the last two seasons, starting five of them.
With Trent Brown still the presumed started at left tackle, Cajuste could have been part of the competition to play at right tackle or be one of the first backups.
It was a crowded field, though, with Riley Reiff, Conor McDermott, Calvin Anderson, Andrew Stueber and 2023 fourth-round pick Sidy Sow all in the mix as well.
