As expected, the Patriots have made a roster move Monday involving some shuffling around of some players.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates, defensive tackle Beau Allen has been placed on injured reserve and NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero has the corresponding move being promoting rookie linebacker Cassh Maluia to the active roster from the practice squad.
New injured reserve rules mean Allen only has to be on the list for at least three weeks and teams can have unlimited players return. The defensive tackle was signed this offseason, but hasn’t been on the field at all this summer.
Maluia had a strong training camp and in addition to a role as a linebacker he could play some special teams.
[UPDATE]: The Patriots made these moves official and they also have placed Damien Harris on injured reserve and promoted J.J. Taylor.
