The Patriots were lacking depth on the defensive line and they addressed it Wednesday.
According to the NFL transaction wire, the team signed defensive tackle Carl Davis off the Jaguars' practice squad.
The move makes a lot of sense as defensive tackle Byron Cowart is on the COVID list and the position was already very thin. There's just Lawrence Guy, Adam Butler and then practice squad player Nick Thurman.
Davis, 28, was suspended the first four games of this season for violating the league’s performance-enhancing substance policy. The veteran has played for three teams over the course of his career with his best season coming in 2017 with the Ravens when he had 19 tackles.
In 36 career games, he has totaled 32 tackles.
