The Patriots got their roster to 80 players on Tuesday, but in that process they also added a player from outside the organization.

They claimed tight end Kahale Warring off waivers from the Texans.

Warring was a third-round pick in the 2019 draft and spent his rookie year on injured reserve. Last year, he appeared in seven games and finished with three receptions for 35 yards.

New England has a little bit of a depth issue at tight end and it seems like Warring was worth a flier.

The team did release five players, including DB Malik Gant, LS Brian Khoury, LB Cassh Maluia, OL R.J. Prince and WR Devin Ross. In addition OL Marcus Martin was played on injured reserve.

The Patriots will host the Giants for joint practices Wednesday and Thursday.
