Patriots reportedly met with Buffalo running back, who put up crazy college statistics

Before we go any further, it should be noted that every team makes at least some contact with virtually every player who will be drafted, so these reports aren't as big of a deal as some make them, but they are still noteworthy.

According to Justin Melo of The Draft Network, the Patriots are one of several teams who have met virtually with University of Buffalo running back Jaret Patterson.

Patterson put up crazy numbers last season. In six games, he recorded 1,072 yards and 19 touchdowns. Overall, in 32 career college games, he finished with 3,884 yards and 52 touchdowns. The running back can also catch the ball out of the backfield, as he recorded 20 catches for 271 yards.

His best game came this past season when he posted 409 rushing yards and eight touchdowns against Kent State.

While the Patriots are relatively young at the position, it would not be a surprise to see them select a running back, especially if James White departs via free agency.
