The Patriots traded up to No. 38 overall in Round 2 to select Alabama defensive tackle Christian Barmore.
It's a nice fit given all the Alabama players already on the Patriots roster, including Mac Jones who the team selected in the first round, but also because the Patriots were Barmore's favorite team growing up.
The defensive tackle revealed that while speaking on a conference call with the New England media.
"My favorite college team was Alabama, so I love dominance. It's like the same program, just in the NFL. I love winners," Barmore said.
Barmore was considered by some as the best defensive tackle in the draft. He finished with 37 tackles, 9.5 for loss, and eight sacks last season in Alabama's National Championship season.
While he primarily played defensive end in Alabama's 3-4 scheme, he said on the call he's comfortable all over the line and will do whatever Bill Belichick asks.
The defensive line position went from a need at the start of free agency to now being one of the more competitive ones on the roster.
