Peter King doesn't believe Patriots will make a move for Jimmy Garoppolo this year

The Jimmy Garoppolo-Patriots rumors will only continue no matter what the 49ers say.

NBC Sports' Peter King weighed in Monday in his Football Morning in America column. First off, King believes the 49ers will not trade Garoppolo.

"How can you count on a rookie to play at a high level five months after the draft? You can’t," he wrote.

And then relating to the Patriots, King doesn't believe Bill Belichick would be willing to give up a first-round pick for the veteran QB. That is what the 49ers reportedly want as of now.

"When Bill Belichick worked under Bill Parcells with the Giants, I know he had to hear Parcells harp on availability being more important than ability, and I just can’t see Belichick making a big investment (in a pick and in a contract) in a guy who’s missed 23 games in the last three years due to injury," King wrote. "Plus, if New England gets a quarterback, somehow, high in this draft, they’d have salary-manageability and a young prospect, and the yearning for Garoppolo goes away."

With that being said, if Garoppolo sticks with the 49ers and the Patriots do not add a QB, King said 2022 might be a different story once his value goes down.
