While the Patriots are apparently ready to "burn some cash" in free agency this offseason according to head coach Jerod Mayo, they may not even get the chance to negotiate with one star pass catcher on the market.

According to The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr., "all expectations" are that the Bengals will use the franchise tag on wide receiver Tee Higgins. Higgins, 25, tallied two consecutive 1,000+ yard seasons in Cincinnati in 2021 & 2022 and is one of quarterback Joe Burrow's favorite targets.

New England enters free agency with not only $66+ million in cap space according to Over the Cap, (third in the NFL to only the Commanders and Titans) but with, as Mayo even admitted, a need at wide receiver.

Outside of Higgins, some top targets set to enter the market include Buccaneers WR Mike Evans, Colts WR Michael Pittman Jr., and Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley.
