On Tuesday, the Patriots placed offensive linemen Isaiah Wynn and Michael Onwenu on the COVID list.
Both were not at practice Wednesday and appearing on Gresh & Keefe Thursday, NFL Media's Ian Rapoport provided some additional context, including indicating one player is not vaccinated.
“The two guys on the COVID list -- so on the NFL’s personnel notice, it said at the bottom of it that one guy was a positive, the other guy was a close contact," he said. "So, if one of those guys was not vaccinated then that is the close contact. I don’t know if any of them play on Sunday. I think whichever player is vaccinated has a chance to play Sunday. Hopefully we’ll know more as the week goes on.”
Updated NFL rules for this year say fully vaccinated players are no longer considered close contacts.
It's not 100% clear which player is vaccinated and which isn't (although Wynn did wear a mask to training camp sessions), as well as both players' availability for Sunday since not all the information is known.
